Asia 1978 – Solo travel with backpack, journal, sketchbook and camera across Australia into pre-mass-tourism Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India and the Philippines. The centerpiece was an unguided, 300-mile walk through the high Himalayas, from Pahalgam in the Kashmir Valley to the Tibetan buddhist monastery of Lamayuru in Ladakh.

New York and Paris : 1979-91 – These dozen or so years began with abstract painting classes at the Art Student’s League of New York and evolved into a decade of living and working in Paris, collaborating on word and image projects while paying the rent with photographic assignments for fashion publications in France, Britain, Italy, Canada, Australia and the USA.
